Job Description
- Well, Respected and Established Operation.
- Varied Financial & Management Accounting Role.
- CA Qualification Mentoring & Support Available.
St Bede’s College is a well-respected Catholic secondary boys’ boarding school. Established over 100 years ago, they value its traditions while leading educational practice and pastoral care. An opportunity has arisen for an accounting professional with a growth mindset to help them build a warm, supportive, and high-performing team.
This is a role where you will be able to develop your skills and broaden your experience while at the same time supporting education, accommodation, sports, property management, and community engagement operations.
Reporting to the Accounting Team Leader is a broad-ranging role that will allow you to take responsibility for your own annual report and audit. You will also support the financial management and reporting for other entities within the group.
Key responsibilities will include payroll, control of the ledgers, overseeing AR and AP, tax compliance including GST returns, preparation of month-end financial reporting, budgeting, and production of annual financial statements.
As time permits you will also assist as they implement new technologies and develop multi-year financial models which will help them plan, fund, and manage a major building program. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who shares the values of respect, integrity, and excellence.
The position could suit a range of candidates, from graduates with 3+ years’ experience seeking to broaden the skills they have already gained, or a more experienced Accounting Assistant who has built their accounting skills and knowledge through experience rather than exams.
Equally, St Bede’s is open to supporting and mentoring the successful candidate to gain their CA qualification if they wish to follow that path. You will be joining a finance and administration team that supports a broad range of operations.
And as they seek continual improvement in the organization you will play a key role in encouraging and enabling change while also building your own skills and knowledge.
Strong interpersonal skills, a high level of computer literacy, good attention to detail, a proactive approach, and a growth mindset are also important prerequisites.
This is a full-time permanent role. The successful candidate will be based in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, with some opportunity to work from home. You will be provided with on-site parking and have access to facilities including a gym, weights room, and swimming pool.
St Bede’s is working exclusively with Echelon Group regarding the recruitment of this position. To be considered you must contact Echelon Group directly.
