Job Description

The Fraud Technology team is part of the Group Security BU and is accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing leadership of the Group’s Fraud technology platform fighting against fraudulent and scamming activities.

Our platform’s purpose is to support our Group’s business, Group Fraud Management Services, and their value proposition of providing world-class fraud prevention and detection to safeguard CBA and the wider community.

We are responsible for CommBank’s real-time Fraud Decisioning Platform (FDP) and work to create world-leading capabilities for fraud management solutions dealing with high volume (100m+/day) and low latency (<250ms) traffic in real-time/near real-time. Technologies we use include Ab Initio, SAS, Pegasus Case Management, Oracle, and Java.”

Do work that matters

  • Be responsible for Software design, development, and implementation of the specific specialized areas (Ab Initio) of key strategic solutions across the enterprise
  • Utilize advanced expertise and a broad range of concepts, technology, and domain knowledge to develop and deliver world-class software solutions to meet business needs. the latest tech to solve our customers’ most complex data-centric problems.
  • Develop and deploy high-quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage without supervision
  • Analyze business objectives and identify functional and non-functional requirements
  • Design and implement technical solutions for functional and non-functional requirements
  • Provide accurate estimates for the development effort for new features
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to other members of the team
  • Apply and promote industry best patterns and practices
  • Contribute to the strategic engineering goals within own team/platform

We are interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have experience in hands-on data processing work and  have exposure to complex data systems with multiple layers of integration and heavy data engineering
  • Are confident in building group data products from scratch, by integrating large sets of data derived from hundreds of internal and external sources
  • Have Database exposures, such as database query tuning, optimization, large volume load/unload/join, etc
  • Have backend development experience involving a large volume of data between systems

Tech skills

  • We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
  • AbInitio graph along with backend coding expertise in Java and Python 
  • ANSI SQL works with at least one of the RDBMS including Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Scripting languages: Bash, KSH, or PythonTableau VizQL
  • Linux environments.
  • Realtime Streaming technologies, Kafka
