A part-time School Counsellor opportunity at a reputable independent school located in Sydney’s North Shore

Your new company

Hays Healthcare is excited to be partnering with a prestigious Independent Boys’ School within Sydney’s North Shore. They have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Psychologist or Counsellor to join the Campus Care Team on a permanent, part-time basis.

This school caters to students from late primary school to Year 12. It offers an outstanding academic education and empowers its students to strive for excellence in various aspects of their lives. This holistic nature of their education includes co-curriculum activities which is underpinned by their faith and involvement in religious programs.

Your new role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide counselling support to students in Year 5 and Year 6, to help them process various personal issues that could potentially impact their development.

As part of the Campus Care Team, you will work alongside a team of five psychologists to identify students within Years 5 and 6 who may be in need of support. You will then assist them through various interventions, which will involve providing referrals to external agencies as required. With each student, you will have the opportunity to establish and maintain an environment in which you could provide ongoing support to children.

What you’ll need to succeed

Your passion for the well-being of children and adolescents will lead to your success, as well:
  • A Tertiary level qualification in Psychology or equivalent, and AHPRA registration.
  • A Working with Children’s Check.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in counselling children and adolescents.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication, especially with adolescents.
  • Familiarity with psychological and educational assessment tools.
  • Support for students and families in need, whilst maintaining discreetness and confidentiality.
