Job Description
Where you’ll be working
The position is part of the Dietetics team at Ryde Hospital and provides nutrition care for acute and rehabilitation inpatients as per clinical workload allocation. The position may also be required to cover an Outpatient clinic caseload and group Nutrition Education sessions.
In addition, the position is required to participate in the provision of the face-to-face weekend/public holiday Dietetic service on the Ryde Hospital campus (acute care and sub-acute care) for long weekends as rostered.
What you’ll be doing
The Senior Clinical Dietitian is active in maintaining standards of quality nutritional care, education, and consultancy for patients, staff, and the wider community. The Senior Clinical Dietitian is involved in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on services.
The Senior Clinical Dietitian will identify opportunities for improvement in clinical practice, as well as develop and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff. The Senior Clinical Dietitian also acts as Team Leader when the Ryde Unit Head is on leave.

- Bachelor or postgraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience with a minimum as a Level 2 Dietitian.
- Provide evidence of proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to liaise with novice and experienced health professionals and external service providers. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete, and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation processes. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
- Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current Nutrition & Dietetic practice. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for consumers, carers, and families requires assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral, and discharge planning.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Have the ability to prioritize work, manage a demanding workload, apply high-level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgment.
