Job Description

We are looking for confident, customer-focused people who are able to problem solve and work under pressure. In this front-facing role, you will be required to listen carefully, make sure you have understood the enquiry and either answer the enquiry using our knowledge base or refer to second-line teams as required.

We provide full training, but experience working in a front-facing role is required. There is some flexibility in terms of a weekly working pattern, but it will include one shift that finishes at 7 pm. The Information Centre operates a seven day a week service, so some weekend working may be required as well.

The Person

We are looking for a reliable, confident, flexible, customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to supporting others and working collaboratively within, and outside of, a team.

You will have the knowledge and experience to deliver practical advice and guidance to all our users, offering immediate resolution, or referring enquiries for expert advice where appropriate. You will need to be confident using IT although training on all aspects of the role will be given.


This Directorate plays a vital role in the retention and success of students at Kingston University. By taking a holistic, cohesive approach to the effective provision of services to our 17,000 students, we aim to enhance their experience through support that is effective and also responsive to their changing needs.

We cover three main areas of responsibility – Student Life, Student well-being and the First Response and Administration team.

Student Life provides the University’s fundamental student services while Student Wellbeing is responsible for all wellbeing and safeguarding-related policies. The First Response and Administration Team, meanwhile, ensures the smooth running of all activities.
