Senior Data Engineer

Malt is growing rapidly. In order to achieve its ambitious goals, we offer you the opportunity to join the Malt engineering team as a Senior Data Engineer.
 
The Engineering Team is part of the product team. Along with product managers and designers, we create the most efficient marketplace for our freelancers and clients.
 
The engineering team counts around 50 members:
– Frontend Software Engineers (Javascript, TypeScript, VueJS)
– Backend Software Engineers (Java, Kotlin)
– Mobile Engineers (iOS, Android)
– Cloud Engineers (GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab CI),
– Security Engineers
– Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Data Analysts.
 
We are organized into 3 tribes: freelancers, clients, and platform, each tribe is subdivided into smaller teams or squads.
Squads are responsible for a part of the product from A to Z (user research, design, architecture, support, technical debt, production…), and imagine the best solutions to reach the product OKRs and thus contribute directly to the company’s growth.
 
The platform tribe aims at providing solid foundations to other teams around efficiency, reliability, security, productivity, and quality.
It is composed of:
– The Cloud Engineering team (Cloud operations, Continuous integration, and deployment)
– The Shared Services team (shared product code and functionalities)
– The Security team and The Data Engineering team
– A group of Guild leaders – in charge of leading architecture and the product technical vision.

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will integrate the Data Engineering team, part of the platform tribe. You will be at the heart of Malt’s data-driven approach and working on a modern data stack.
 
At Malt, our BigQuery Cloud Data Warehouse is our single source of truth. It is used daily by all Malters to make decisions, follow success metrics, and create smarter software and content.
 
The Data Engineering team’s main missions are:
– provide and maintain the framework to ingest, transform and consolidate data in this data warehouse.
– ensure data quality, accuracy, and freshness are maintained at the right level
– provide integration solutions to feed internal 3rd party software (CRM, marketing automation …)
– empower business teams and actively participate in a common growth strategy.
– be a force for change and empowerment of the data guild members
 
In detail, the technical stack is:
– Google BigQueryKubernetes on GCPgitlab-ci,
– Airflow 2
– Python 3, Scala, Spark
– Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch
– Salesforce, Hubspot, customer.io
 
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the team and will be able to both build complex solutions in autonomy as well as help the team maintains and improve the data platform.
 
You will closely collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, cloud engineers, software engineers, and all the business teams at Malt.

Preferred profile

You have a degree in computer science (engineering school or equivalent) and at least 7 years of experience in software engineering, including a previous experience as a data engineer, ideally on similar technologies we use.
 
You are curious and keep a close eye on modern data stacks and their evolutions. You are pragmatic, focus on impact, and take yourself data-driven decisions.
 
– Screening with a Talent Acquisition Manager – 45 mins

– Technical Interview with the Data Engineering team – 1,5 hour
– Final Interview with our Chief People Office – 30 mins
