We are growing and looking for an experienced Technical Writer, Lead to join our team. The Technical Writer, Lead will mentor a team of writers to research, organize, write, and edit information that includes, but is not limited to product manuals, translated manuals,
Software UI translations, etc., and establish the overall process and editorial standards of the submissions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who will play a key role in the next phase of Topcon Precision Agriculture’s growth. Ready to join the team?
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, assess and recommend preliminary estimates for Translation requests as part of the monthly sprint planning to manage the workload for Technical Publications staff and consultants associated with processing translation materials.
- Mentor Technical Publications staff and consultants responsible for processing translation requests for manuals.
- Develop workflow and processes to improve the manual translations.
- Develop workflow and processes to improve the software UI translations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Professional Services.
- Document current workflow and tools and develop standardization of the software translation processes and tools across the company.
- Create FrameMaker templates to improve/maintain worldwide company standard manuals and documents.
- Manage to quote of translation work, feedback with issues found in translations, and process improvements with translation vendors.
- Complete manual translation projects and UI translation projects in a timely manner based on assigned prioritization and delivery commitments.
- Ensure document control integrity with document revision history content and proper approval workflow routing.
- Ensure documented processes and methodologies meet ISO 9001 requirements.
- Adhere to compliance standards, confidentiality, and information dissemination rules
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience architecting complex documents and documentation sets, information design, and structured authoring.
- Proficient with FrameMaker.
- Experience implementing and/or managing a Content Management System (CMS) is a plus.
- Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain them with clarity and technical accuracy.
- Ability to establish rapport and working relationships with a variety of personalities.
- Sound knowledge of technical writing fundamentals, industry-standard writing styles, and content organization.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud (e.g. FrameMaker, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)
- Work with translation vendors in managing translation development & procurement process
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management, Document Control, and/or Business Process Management methodologies and software.
- Knowledge of technical terms related to GPS, GNSS, Machine Control,
- Auto Guidance and Precision Agriculture industries are desirable
